Middle Run Valley Tree Planting, Spring 2024 ~ Middle Run Natural Area

This event is no longer on sale.

Saturday April 13

9:00 AM  –  1:00 PM

Moved from April 6 to April 13 due to weather.

Delaware Nature Society has managed the land at the 860-acre Middle Run Natural Area for over 15 years and has coordinated a major reforestation project at the park since 1991 in partnership with New Castle County. More than 55,000 trees have been planted, enhancing biodiversity, and improving the quality of the watershed.

But our job isn't done yet. We need your help!

Individuals, families, friends, scouts, and other groups interested in helping - bring your muscles and enthusiasm!

Volunteers dig holes, plant, cage, and water up to 600 trees.

Bring shovels if you have them (we also have some), gloves, a watering container (bucket or gallon milk jug), and a hand sledge.

Volunteers should dress for the weather. We plant rain or shine.

Groups over the size of 15 should call to register: (302) 239-2334.

The site of this year’s planting is the intersection of Polly Drummond Hill Road and Smithmill Road, Newark, DE.

Pre-registration is required and ends 24 hours before the event. Children are welcome but each child MUST be accompanied by an adult.

Families (all ages) | Free!
