Next Generation Land Stewards: Native Habitat Field Trip ~ Abbott's Mill Nature Center
Learn about what freshwater wetlands are, why they are so important, and the unique native plant and wildlife species that call them home. You will also learn how you can install an engineered wetland right in your own community. With guidance from professional land stewards and environmental educators, this field trip will enable diverse communities to get more involved in local conservation efforts right in our own neighborhoods by replicating successful projects already in existence. We will meet at Abbott's Mill Nature Center before departure on a conversational road trip to Camden, DE (Kent County) to take a closer look at a thriving, 10,000 gallon native freshwater wetland pond.
This field trip is designed as a hands-on follow-up to the presentation given on Septemeber 18, 2025 available through a partnership with Delaware Nature Society and Wild Birds Unlimited, Glen Mills. Led by DelNature Adult Education Team. Van transportation is included.
