Thursday May 21

6:30 PM  –  8:00 PM

Session I – May 21, 6:30pm to 8:00pm

Dragons, Damsels, and Demons:  Tales of the Night Sky

What did Coyote do to “ruin” the sky?  How did Maui change the world with his fishing pole?  Where does Cassiopeia suffer punishment for her vanity?  The answers to these questions reside in ancient myths and legends that actually reveal fundamental truths about stars, constellations, and how the sky “works”.  Learn these stories and more as we find our own way around the heavens, and discover modern interpretations of these same phenomena – the tales that Science tells.

Session II – May 28, 6:30pm to 8:00pm

Its BIG Out There:  Planets, Stars, Galaxies, and the Curious Case of Light in the Night

Take a “walk” through our solar system, hop a slow rocket to the stars, discover the secret of time-travel, and ponder the mysteries of the phenomenon that defines the universe as we know it: light in its many surprising aspects…all from the comfort of your own home!

Note: After registration, you will receive Zoom meeting invitations for the lectures.
